It was too much to handle, the idea of leaving Thailand without eating something bizarre and arguably disgusting. Most Westerners seemed to enjoy taking pictures of the 'bug' cart, but eating the critter fritters was another story.
Frogs, scorpions, grasshoppers, crickets, and grubs deep-fried and sprayed with a healthy squirt of soy sauce. Love em' or leave em'.
Well, I can't say I loved them, but the taste was far less appalling than I would have suspected. Two Thai ladies were eating a bag of grasshoppers and offered me a few. They were crunchy, savory, tasty. I could have snarfed a bag easily and not thought anything of it.
The scorpion on the other hand was revolting. Even the locals shot me a look of "go ahead dude, but we'll pass."
I should've opted for the frog.
