I was asked to create this video, to honor the life and work of Del Martin for Lyon-Martin Health Services' annual Gala on Sunday, September 7, 2008. Lyon-Martin Health Services is named for Del Martin and her partner and wife of 55 years, Phylis Martin, whom she wed this past June. Del passed away on August 27.
Del and Phil have been at the forefront of civil rights since the mid 1950s, working tirelessly for not only basic human rights, but more so for women, lesbians and gays. They're groundbreaking work helped assure that I can live in a world without fear of losing my job because of who I am, or being arrested for gathering with my brethren and many other vital rights that many take for granted, including the right to marry the one you love.
Enjoy the video and, please, vote NO on Proposition 8. Don't take away my right to love.
I likes all the videos of Del Martin!
