@Adibarum Very sad. I think everyone in the town is very upset about this. We all have our own memories of the pier. It will be interesting to see what happens if those two kids are found guilty.

Such a sad day for Hastings, it breaks my heart to see the pier in this state, we can just hope the council will rebuild the old lady back to her former glory

@vtec295 I think it's all going to depend on the result of the structural survey being done next week.

Time to rebuild the old lady, hopefully they will - and use elements of the original design.

@LeSaMilano That is a possibilty, depending on the outcome of the structural survey which needs to be done. We'll see.

Andy, how sad it is to see Hastings Pier in such a sorry state. Sussex has now lost two Eugenius Birch piers (the other is Brighton's West Pier), only Eastbourne remains.

@GrahamLondonUK It does seem a little ironic that both Hastings & the West Pier were lost in the same way. Eastbourne is still a fully working pier, which will hopefully save it.
