This is a game from 2007 between the 12th World Champion Anatoly Karpov and International Master Mihajlo Stojanovic. Black employs the Fort Knox variation of the French Defense, but then opts for the atypical move b6. See how Karpov pounces on this idea immediately and leaves no hope for his opponent.

  • Hey Jerry I must say that this is another superb video! So keep it up :)

  • @snuskefar1 Thanks snuskefar :)

  • do you know who is trolling kingscrusher? just curious

  • @jjphysstud no

  • I think someone like you could make a show about chess on regular tv and it would actually be a popular show. You show chess the way it is and make every thing crystal clear. You are not one of those commentators who "try" to make chess exciting - you just let the natural excitement of chess be readily visible. If there were more chess comemtators like you, I think chess would have television popularity approaching that of baseball. Keep up the great work!

  • @boletusedilus Thank you for the kind words.

  • Great video. For a chess novice like me, your "What if" scenarios are COMPLETELY necessary because I don't tend to see those combinations several moves down. This is really accessible and interesting, even for someone who is not very knowledgable about chess. Thanks

  • Thank You !!! God Bless You ChessNetwork for you Good Work +D

  • Great game by Karpov. It was the first time I saw a "fianchettoed" rook.

  • Killer fork.

  • disregard that, it would mate at queen f6, the square you drew threw me off

  • at 12:58 you said mate on g7, but im fairly sure bishop could just capture

  • nice game...

  • Am I the only one who finds strong vs. weak player games more interesting than purely Grandmaster chess? Is this why Morphy's games are so interesting? Thanks for an interesting video.
