Development in Iraq after 2003 (June 2008)

The International Council on Security and Development (ICOS) reveals that since the US-led invasion of Iraq in 2003, few improvements have been made to the country once led by the dictator, Saddam Hussein. The continuing deterioration of the city is unilaterally recognised by an array of Iraqi citizens interviewed. Roads still await re-building and electricity is often down. School and universities have also suffered at the hands of war, losing vital professors along with their knowledge. Many people interviewed claim that life was better under Saddam; crime rates were low and very few people died of starvation.
