The Canary Aviary at the House that Contains Upwards of 50 Canaries

At your house, attached to a back portion, is a canary aviary that has upwards of 50 canaries that sing such lovely moning songs and all during the day. They are breendig every year and their numbers do increase all the time. Care for the aviary is minimal, but we have to vaccinate them every year and keep ticks and mosquitoes in check.

During the time we often had fewer females, in large part because they didn't survive having babies, sometimes we many more males, to the point the did in fact fight over females; we have dismantled the aviary, too much work, and turned into play area for two young kids.

I was just wondering if you could give me advice on what type of perches and plants or shrubs I should put in with my aviary.Im very cautious because I dont know which types of trees or plants are safe.Id really appreciate your response.I really like the set up of your aviary very spacious and nice:)

Why do the mothers die after having babies? Does the noise from all of those birds annoy your neighbours??

Were not sure, could be the stress of laying the eggs; in our aviary sometimes the insects get to babies and Mom. Our neighbor's bedrooms is rigth next to aviary and they love it; waking up to that singing is very nice; when I did that video we had many different colors, but now we have mainly yellow, off-whites, it is weird.

We live in Los Angeles, only have trouble with mosquitoes in summer, we spray the aviary with diluted Borax solution to hold down the pest problem; important durng breeding season when we might have 10 nests going.

@hhhhhhhh677 hello, I do know certain plants like dracaena variety (red margined, song of india, corn plant), raphis, bamboos, and ferns are safe for birds :)

@airrally Do you have cuttlebone or some other means for the females to get calcium? If they are laying eggs they need it.

@abby161919 Up to 15 years if properly cared for. They are a hardy little bird :)
