  • This is Konono No. 1, Kasaï Allstars and others supporting a song by Deerhoof, not the other way around. I went to see the show last week and danced my pants off. Every song had a different groove and sounded natural. Greg Saunier told me after the show that because of the language barrier rehearsals were done mostly using gestures and intuition. The result is amazing. Deerhoof are not ‘white hipsters’, but in fact very modest and kind people, not to mention brilliant musicians and composers.

  • @rjwusher I agree, love all the acts here and an amazing job despite the language barrier. Wish i could have seen this. Saw deerhoof in Manchester on their vs evil tour and they blew me away. One of my faves from the new album. Did they do a whole set with this line-up?

  • This video really doesn't capture what this song is like live (maybe just a bad day?) - when I saw them in Switzerland this song made me cry! I much prefer this version to the original, anyone know where I can find any better recordings?

  • @Djeekop yeah kinda gotta agree with you, ambitious, exciting n amaizing concept on paper but the result on stage is another story...big up to the label for investing in the idea tho

  • Hey, thanks. There were this many performers on stage throughout the show, which lasted about 1,5 hours. They played only a few Deerhoof songs, one by Skeletons (I think) and maybe a few by Wildbirds & Peacedrums, and definitely versions of Konono No. 1's and Kasaï Allstars's repertoire. Kasaï Allstars did a wonderful performance. You could see they had good fun. Their guitar player (with the gold Epiphone) is a genius. His guitar playing sounds like a nightingale singing.

  • the bass player is pretty and cute =]

  • @Djeekop: in a way, it's sadly true

  • Very messy. Those white hipsters manage very well to destroy konono's real groove..

  • Groovy!
