Spy vs Spies

Bill Richardson has gone to Cuba to try to free a US government contractor. The contractor, Alan Gross, has been sentenced to 15 years on the accusation of spying on the Cuban government, but Cuba has five of their own imprisoned in the US for spying on the US. Some say that the Cuban Five imprisonment was unjust and Gloria La Riva, former presidential candidate, discusses the Cuban Five and Alan Gross.

If the US supports the work of dissidents in the island, the work of people who are fighting a totalitarian and oppressive regime like the one in Cuba, then congratz, they deserve it. If the Cuban government were doing their job properly, and if the Cuban people wanted the current regime to stay, then these dissidents wouldn't be there, they wouldn't be able to destabilize anything. If the Cuban government fears them so much, that means the regime is quite aware of its unpopularity among Cubans.

I'm sorry lady, but you need to be reminded that the Cuban government is a dictatorship that has been oppressing the Cuban people for 52 years now. Alan Gross got arrested in Cuba for bringing computers to the Jewish community, just that, computers; he got arrested because the flow of information and the internet are a threat to the Cuban government, like any other totalitarian dictatorship in the end.
