RAN FAA Wessex 31B Helicopter four formation

Four Wessex 31B (now Utility) helicopters take off in formation from NAS Nowra to over fly the RANC (Naval College at Jervis Bay and then fly over Beecroft Range, the Drum and Drumsticks. They fly down the Shoalhaven River to Nowra township to turn left to return to the airfield for a formation break into the circuit. Music by David Bowie and Bachmann Turner Overdrive.

What a great find. I worked on 812 and 831 over the years. I found my 21st anniversary T shirt the other day, (it doesn't fit). I paid off in '86 so wasn't there for the 25th anniversary.

These helicopters were serious work horses in their day!!
Very cool so see them flying.
They used one in a 80's TV show called Riptide. They named the helicopter "Screaming mimi" and painted it pink with a huge face on the front.

G'day. Google 'a4ghistory-com' for some old RAN Fixed Wing and Helo material in PDF & Video format. Specifically 'Part_6_of_6_A4G-FAA_Scrapbook_15sep10.pdf' 530Mbs has all recent old RAN Helo Material - videos embedded in PDF. Other websites google 'adf-history-com/adf'. First website will always have the most up to date (historic) material in PDFs or Videos.

Your not wrong. It will change even more I suppose soon. The ADF helicopter Training School is going there in 2010, I believe.
