It doesn't seem like too long ago I was in the playground. Things change no matter if we want them to or not, sometimes it's barely noticable, sometimes it's big.
Someone in the playground punched me in the face,
and I was on the verge of hitting back,
Someone in the playground fell and scraped their knee on the gravel ground,
I saw them cry and it made me sad inside.
How many times was I told I could be president,
if I only wanted it, and how many times did I say no?
My mom says all they do is lie and one day
they're all gonna fry in a place I don't want to go.
I used to laugh, I used to cry
at least I had friends by my side
I could count on them and they could count on me,
now I'm grown my friends are too, the world's so small
I don't know what to do, because things aren't the same.
It used to be if someone frowned you'd lift them up
and take them to the town that they so longed to see.
Or if they needed shoes and you had three you'd give them two
and bite your pride, and feel some empathy.
I used to laugh, I used to cry
at least I had friends by my side
I could count on them and they could count on me,
now I'm grown my friends are too, the world's so small
I don't know what to do, because things aren't the same.
But you know what to do.
:) that's some nice folk.

Raul, I love everything about this. You capture something special here, the changes we encounter all around us as we grow older. So many great lines in this song. My favorite line is: "It used to be if someone frowned you'd lift them up
and take them to the town that they so longed to see" That is so beautiful..the whole image of that escapism.
I am such a fan of your music and your writing...added to my faves...Robby ;)
