What are you talking about? An apology doesn't justify what a person did. Apologizing does make things better because of the fact that he is acknowledging the faults that he has made therefore trying to correct them the best he can. What do you want him to do? Stand idly by and accept the fact that there is no sure fire way of making things better, when there is? Your mindsets on apologies are somewhat skewered.

He took a lot of heat for what he said and if he had went on and made fun of Sarah Palin without apologizing to her daughter he would have been demonized beyond belief. Everyone's actions are so calculated and poltically motivated anymore - hard to know who is sincere.

I agree at some point because there are people that overuse the word "sorry" so many times that it loses it's meaning.

In curtain situations, saying sorry is useless. I would never be stupid enough to cheat so i wouldn't have to apologize in this hypothetical scenario.

It's a start. You are acknowledging that you were wrong and that you are trying to make things right. What would you do in that situation? Not say sorry? Seems kind of stupid to me.
