Got a new camera and the sound is much better now. I got inspired to post this one after hearing bhigdaddymark's post of the same tune. He plays way better than I do though.

  • I wasn't serious about the organ being removed. Dr. Coffin married us (ran into the ex yesterday @ Wal-Mart), & David Higgs played. A friend's daughter is getting married there in August, and Chris is playing that wedding. Take care Steve........

  • I don't think Chris is going to be replaced. He is filling in as director until and new one can be found. I think it was the Diapason that I got that info from. He is a talent and my friend told me organ was not his major at the school. I think he said it was the cello.

I have to agree. Change is not always a good thing and it would be a real shame if that organ was removed.

Did Dr. Forbes marry you? Who was the organist? You must have had some great music.

    Steve

  • WOW! 600k?! Idiots....Why would they even look for another organist to replace Christopher? He's from all that I know, a good organist but then again, politics. The direction in which Riverside has changed, it wouldn't surprise me if they stop using the organ all together, dismantle it, and use a frickin hammond B3. Sometimes change isn't all that its cranked up to be................

  • The new ministers $600.000 salary package was a bit much for several of the members to digest. This has led to the ministers resignation only after being there a few months.

Good to hear tho that the A/S has been put back to 100%. I have also heard that Chris Johnson is the interim head organist until another is found. I met him a few years ago at Riverside via another graduate of the Manhattan School of Music. My friend and I were there for a Fred Swann concert.

  • One of the curators of the Riverside organ and I have been friends for 42 years. The last time we spoke (which was 6 months ago), the organ had been fully returned to 100% playable. I think the stone work that was being done which caused dust to damage some of the organ has been completed. I'm a member of Riverside (got married there in 1983), but since I live in FLA., I'm not sure of what's going on there internally, and don't care. Church is a business like other businesses full of ass wipes.

  • Mark, that was very kind of you to say.. thanks.

What is the latest you have heard about the RIverside organ? I know Ken Cowen had a concert there the other night. I guess it is in fairly good working order. I hope the inner turmoil with the pastor wont have any affect.

  • But JerzyDude732, YOU DID play this better than I did, you played it RIGHT!! Nice post brother!

    Bhigdaddy........

  • or my living room-music room. Thanks.
