I cant figure out how to get my old doorknob off, the handle is too wide to get a screw driver to the one's keeping the two half's in place any advice.

@dynocapone At first I wasn't sure how to put the thingy in the round part, but after a while you can get the trick. Just be sure not to stick the thingy in the bad round part!!

i had to chisel a little area out of my door for the plate so i was glad to see this video before I freaked out about it not fitting. do i tyourself is not my kind of thing but this was pretty easy to do.

my 2 door knobs wont pull apart, its an old handle perhaps 10-20 years, got all screws undone and out, but they just wont come apart, any reason?

@danorambo - Check if there is a small rectangular hole on one of the door knobs. If there is, use a small screwdriver and poke it into this hole to release the door knob from the post.

What if there is a cover between the knob and the door preventing access to the screws, this is quite annoying.

Usually there is a small gap underneath the knob that you can insert a small common screwdriver into. With a quick twist you can pop off the door knob cover to get to the screws.

Sometimes the door knob can stick due to paint. You may need to hit it with the palm of your hand to loosen it.
