Tower 55 Overview

Tower 55 in Fort Worth, Texas has 100+ trains daily from five railroads. It has been abandoned since 1994 but has a double-track Union Pacific mainline, a joint BNSF Railway and Fort Worth & Western Yard, an intersecting BNSF mainline, Amtrak Texas Eagle and Heartland Flyer Service, the DFW Trinity Railway Express, and lots more!

We saw numerous UP SD60's, an unpatched ex- Burlington Northern init, a HATX leaser GP40 in a very rare blue n' gray ex- CSX scheme,
a new BNSF 'swoosh' Dash-9, a TRE F59PH, a helper DPU, and even a sandwiched unit in the middle of a train!

Enjoy!

WOOT! thanks guys for everything!

  • how many HP does a locomotive have like those in the vid?

  • about 4400.

  • Hey good quality, what kind of computer did you use for this? I use a iMac for my new videos and got a new HD camera but on youtube it looks bad so if you can could you tell me how you got yours to look like this?

  • This is actually much more low-tech than my current videos. I used the movie setting of a digital camera to shoot this, because I didn't have anything better to use, and I used Windows XP to create it. I now use a HD camcorder and Windows Vista.

  • Tower 55 :) famous question when u get to that tower from the dispatcher is usually ( whats your hours of service) then u know ur getting the shaft after a awesome trip!!!!!!!

  • Do you have a pic of the part? The newer Overland drives use some of the same components. I have heard of this problem before and you can also call Overland Products as they used to be T55.

  • I purchased a Tower 55 UP ES44AC a couple of years ago and only run it about 1 hour in total. Last week I pulled it out of the box and put it on the rails as I noteced it is not moving. I pulled it appart and found out that the traction gears have split and turning on the shaft.. I'm very disapointed that this is happening on a Tower 55. Where can I get some new parts?

  • what you say are SD60's are actually SD70's
