Harry Patch once said and I quote: "If any man ever tells you he went over the top and he wasn't scared, he's a damn liar."

I think its kind of silly to leave such a detailed response, going into such extensive detail, about a man whom you did not know until only yesterday lol. I say this because you must have quickly studied the facts somehow and then regurgitate them back at us. However, i certainly did not do a damn thing to honor this man's passing, and thats where i commend you. You are a thinker and also a doer, and i love watching your videos. Good health to you, always.

Yes, that's true, Harry was drafted in October 1916...the first time Britain had ever done that.

He was a reminder of the fact that WWI was a war that wiped out a generation. People never forget.
See the movie "God's and Monsters" an incredible film about a man who also, was in WWI

This video is both serious and humorous... It's a good blend.
i just realized that you are reading things off of a screen, seen from the reflection in your glasses lol. I thought you were staring off in deep thought trying to recollect facts youve studied lol, im not sure whats better actually.

Good call.
It's difficult nowadays to comprehend as to what motivated those young men to go into their local makeshift recruiting-station....but I think alot of the reason was to not be the odd-one-out, left behind to be called cowards, and have stones thrown at them by the younger brothers, and even the mothers of the one's who were already there....because that's what happened.
Peer pressure eh.
It still goes on.

from the research i did, i think he got a phone call. i certainly don't know much about british war history, but i'm pretty sure he was drafted. not merely peer pressure then, as the force of the law was behind it.
