About 3 months after planting potatoes, the plants look scruffy, then they look almost dead. Then they are ready to harvest. Grab your pitchfork and gently lift the plants and claim your treasure...Yukon Gold!
It is a good idea to wear gloves when harvesting potatoes.
Potatoes prefer full sun to produce the maximum number of potatoes, but my best sunny spots were claimed for melons and tomatoes. I still got plenty of potatoes and had a fun time doing it!
I live in Virginia in Zone 7. These potatoes were planted soon after Mar. 17.
Good looking potatoes.
