It wasn't the first time the visionary or artistic has been called crazy by lesser men.
No, I believe the Good King fell victim to the politics of the time and a power struggle between greedy business leaders and the free spending monarch. Yes, that age old struggle between the inspired artist and the money motivated businessman.
