Im horrible at modeling a human character. I use blender and I just download a "blank sheet of paper" human model from Blendswap and modify it to make my characters. Ive never tried true space before, but i heard it was free.

It took me so long to realise that besides maya, truspace is the best, dificulty wise and its the best for me because my com can handle it!! ^^
