Over 22 years after the 1984 Union Carbide (Dow Chemical)gas disaster, people (those who haven't already died) in Bhopal are still struggling with the horrific consequences of inhaling toxic gas. Today, 1000's more are living in areas around the abandoned factory some of whom have no choice but, to drink water that is contaminated with toxic chemicals. The government has provided some water, but not enough to meet people's needs. On February 23, 2007 over 400 1st and 2nd generation survivors of the Union Carbide (Dow Chemical) disaster held a torchlight procession to the Chief Minister's residence to demand that the Madhya Pradesh government provide clean water, rational medical care, protection from Union Carbide's (Dow Chemical) toxic waste and do it in an expedient manner. After 22 years of surviving people in Bhopal demand The Right to Life! A lot of people in this video come out to demonstrate with severe backaches, dizziness, limb pains just to name a few of the consequences of the disaster and the contaminated water on their bodies. Unfortunately, Bhopalis' old, sick, women and children were met by a roadblock heavily armed with police and were turned back.
