A very nice early eighties Sony given to me by RetroChad on YouTube. It has very good AC bias high-quality recording, crisp and clear.

  • Hey, I have this same model cassette recorder but it eats the tapes when I play/record them, any idea why? Thanks

  • @JDTV1995 It is most likely the take-up spool having not enough torque to take the tape up. With the rubber around it (on the inside of the machine), a good cleaning of the rubber with Windex or other ammonia-based window cleaner should good.

  • That's a very nice recorder. Sonys tend to be really good. I notice that's also a Sony cassette.

  • It's actually a Maxell cassette.

  • The recorder seems OK for speech, but as a music recorder what it played back was unintelligible.

  • The signal was real strong on the music from YouTube, and may have overdriven it a little.
