In this video, I show how to take that chain/ caterpillar insert from Balloon Twisting 110, and make a Lightsaber.

Half my face was and is still half parayzed with Bel's Palsey. I've had it four times now, Kidnergarden, High School, 7 and 3 years ago. It recovers fully some of the time, and the Doctors call my case an odd one, since I've had it Four times and it switched sides this last time.

I still have a lopsidded face since this video was made, (but not as bad). I can't mouth inflate as well as I could still 4+ years ago and my lopsided smile is crooked on the other side now.

  • Hey, next time you make one of those get some of those glow in the dark necklace or glow stick things you can buy anywhere and stick them in the balloon. You could probably tie the balloon off in a way to keep the glow stick stable enough to withstand kid play....also the necklace is so light weight that it wouldn't really matter....if anyone does do this let me knwo I'd be interested to see the vid!

I've tried that in two ways: putting into the balloon before inflating, (flopped around and didn't illuminate very well unless the balloon was clear, it was night, and then it was too short for the full inflated sword part); and inserting it into a partially inflated balloon, (like the tulip twist, but with the glow stick. Still kind of flopped around, but at the tip; sword part was shorter, and you had a double layer of latex to dim the light from the glow stick).

Best thing to do with glow necklaces is hats, that works great.

  • This is really cool, but at the end, how do you keep the bubbles together? I can see my chain of bubbles but the outer ballon "skin" won't stay wrapped around the inner bubbles.

  • That scrap, (if long enough), could also be loosely tied to a belt or belt loop for storage.

I'd have the child or parent do that part to keep away from any alleged inapropriate touching.

  • This is so cool =)

  • im confused

  • Thanks! Still not as nice as yours but getting there.

  • It won't look exactly like an untwistable chain, but kinda lumpy.

You see at 2:08 I start to twist the outer skin in with the inner chain. While doing this, I get all the air out between the 2 layers, (at 2:26 when I let go of the twisted chain, I still had 1 bubble I held onto, and didn't release until at least the 1st pinch twist. This will keep that vacuum form fitted outer skin.)

Another tip: tie a scrap around the tulip twist to keep that from popping loose.
