  • It is generally accepted, among scholars, that the good samaritan story was added hundreds of years after Jesus' death and was not from him.

  • Quite right. In fact, several books in the new testament were added hundreds of years later. It's dungeons 'n dragons on steroids... the bible is the greatest story every sold.

  • Pastor Wilson is one of the only Christian apologists to whom I think is worth listening. He thinks and argues honestly.

WLCraig is an agile wordsmith, but a man who doesn't bother to consider options, knows straw-man arguments are no good and does them anyway, and doesn't know the definition of "explanation" (his favorite term).

Most are just pure charlatans, in it for the money and are believers only when it suits them.

  • Wilson's point about the good Samaritan story, being a subversive story because it mocks the status quo, is technically correct. Robert Funk, a member of the Jesus Seminar, does an excellent exposition of how controversial Jesus' parable was when viewed in his cultural context. With that said it should be noted that one thing that the parable illustrates is that morality and generosity can be found without formal religious institutions (continued)
