Sounds very beautiful but changing the way of blowing this flute takes its unique sound. Blown traditionally it has a smoky, mystic sound.

If you can't play the original Egyptian flute, how are you able to tune it when you make it? Or know how to modify it into the new Egyptian flute?

bravo. just the samples were amazing.

that flute has the 3 notes of an F#m and 3 of a Gm chords.. it is possible to play that with any bamboo flute with D foot (ex: baroque flute) if you know how to make an Bb (finger 1 and 3 of left hand)..... a Eb also sounds great on that scale but i guess you cant do it on the arabian flute
hey.. maybe you can hold it vertically and blow like a pan flute??... or also blow it like a trumpet. i blow my concert flute like a trumpet and it works on the lower octave

Very nice flutes. The first flute I tried was just the other day on a side-blown flute and I struggle with that to make a consistent sound. This morning I found a guide to make a pvc ney and I found it really easy. My technique is to whistle, then slowly widen my lips till I can't whistle. From then on I use that position. Lay the mouthpiece on the lower right of your bottom lip and blow air to the other end of the flute at a slight angle.

So, in other words... It's nothing like an Egyptian Ney flute. You could've just said that up front, you know., that it's another kind of flute entirely. We wouldn't have thought less of you.
At least, I wouldn't have.

well, sir, you did it wrong. it sounds like an irish flute rather than nay. you have to use the reed plant to make a nay!

My papa once taught me to play our egyptian flute. it of course took me 7 years to learn, but it's fery easy after a while. Proud egyptian!
