Loken Uthum Rata Lankaawai - State Music Orchestra

I.M.R.A. Iriyagolla was born to a wealthy family in Katugampola. A product of Katugampola village school, Ananda and Nalanda colleges, he was an excellent student selected to the medical college, but later left without completing the course. In 1947, he entered parliament as an independant candidate. In 1960, he joined the UNP and became the cabinet minister for Education under the governement of Dudley Senanayake. He reformed the education system during his time. D.S. Senanayake College was a result of his reforms.

THIS SONG WA WRITTEN BY G R EDWARD WHO SINGS THIS SONG WITH HIS CHOIR. AS I UNDERSTAND ARISEN AHUBUDU HAD A HAND IN IT. MR EDWARD WAS THE MUSIC TEACHER AT RAHULA COLLEGE MATARA IN 1950. I AM A PUPIL OF MR EDWARD. PLEASE GIVE DUE CREDIT TO A PERSON WHO WAS KILLED IN 1967IN A TRAFFIC ACCIDENT. MR IRIYAGOLLA HAS NO HAND IN IT AS FAR AS I KNOW. DR SARATH. GUNATUNGA NZ

Thanks for the comment. It was written together with 'Sama Dana Mana Dinu' by then education minister I M R A Iriyagolla. Music and vocals by G.R. Edward and State Music Orchestra!

Dr. Sarath, this was recorded by G.R Edward but for your kind information, it was definitely not written by him. If you go into any historical music archives, you will find that it was written by I.M.R.A Iriyagolla who also wrote Sema Dana Mana Dinu and these two songs are always credited to his name. But true, they were all great people of yesteryear so hats off to their eternal souls.

Music was By Mr.G.R.Edward. this was recorded the day that the Day Radio Ceylon became SLBC 5th of January 1967 . Original recording the artists wqere Sujatha Perera, Ivor dennis and student from gurukula Vidyalaya.. what I can remeber. This sond was played at the School govi weda pola at that time under Hon.Dudley senanyake.-RG

The lyrics of this song was by I.M.R.A.iriyagolla, Education minister of srilanka, He also wrote a song called 'Pragathi geethaya, that goes like.

Sema dan man dinu Sujatha darani sawbagya nidanaya lanka.

If some " pinwathek" can up load that song . I will really appreciate that.
