  • can someone please tell me why the hell Andy stopped hitting like this??

it seems to me that he stopped ripping it like in this vid when he left Brad Gilbert. Ever since around then, he started hitting those gay looping forehands.

The last two times I saw him hit like this : this past AO against Cilic when his shoulder was messed and he was going for broke on all his shots.

The other time was at the 2007 USO against Roger. He should ALWAYS approach matches like this.

  • @mac88productions I completely agree with you. But the way I see it, confidence is a big factor. The turning point was wimbledon 2004. It seems like when a player keeps getting beat by a rival, they tweak their game so much to try and beat that rival, that they forget what their game is. This roddick should have won maybe 6 slams at the least. or split it down with Federer. But that wimbledon 04 match man. Big psychological twist there.

  • @tvp900 I think you make a good point in that many people don't credit the opponent. But Roddick has definitely changed to a loopy percentage game out of fear of missing. Don't you think?

  • why can't roddick hit forehands like this anymore? well I think it's because he's too defensive minded now losing weight made him think he could just hang in there without being aggressive anymore and his forehand is smeared with too much topspin he's quicker but still not quick enough to just play defensive baseline rallies

  • Roddick ain't even 1/8th of the player he once was during this time.

  • @mac88productions because he was younger

  • @mac88productions think of it like this- maybe his forehand didn't get as slow as you're saying, maybe the game has sped up a little in the form of faster, stronger players. Where once, his forehand was a bullet among paintballs, now it's a bullet among rockets. I think it's the game that's changed more, not andy

  • if you look at this match it was a long time ago and if you see Roddick when he was Fully fit at Wimbledon in 2009 hes played ! yes i agree with you hevery passive and defensive than he used to be hes o much more dangerours when he hits more forehand and runs around his back hand what i notice today hes hits far too many backhands very low on confidence in his game rushes to the net which came into his game and if you wathc wimbledon 2005 after he left gilbert you will see this !!!!!!

  • It's not entirely his fault. The courts have slowed down and he can no longer play the attacking baseliner approach with full effectiveness consistently. Also after his shoulder issues and with age, he can no longer hit massive consistently, especially if he wants to extend his career. Basically he's had to adapt his gamestyle to todays Tennis and his own condition.

  • @Jake1985Nazar yeah Brooklyn's face reminds me of a demon

  • @TurdFergusonJunior i can see why...... but in truth im pissed he choose Brooklyn.
