In early July of 2006, supposedly one year after the event detailed in the first verse ("One year ago you gave what was my very first kiss") if my memory is correct, I had a dream in which an unidentifiable individual was singing an equally unidentifiable song. I have reason to believe that this song might have been Latin Jazz, but when I woke up the next morning, I had other ideas for the track. Unfortunately, my parents delayed me from getting started on the composition immediately after waking up (and thus composing while the music was fresh in my music), and as such, I will never know for sure how the composition would have sounded if I had. I decided to attempt the composition utilizing rock influences. Structured and styled at least partially after Vanilla by Gackt, this song would be the first of several songs with exaggerated vibrato and a deep voice (the other two notable ones being Faux (Impressions) and Beschermer; the rest were either scrapped or became instrumentals.) Less than three days after starting the composition, I declared it complete, though I modified it shortly afterward to add a change in key to the last chorus.

By the fall and winter of that year, I had written lyrics to the song (based upon events during the so-called "Dark Ages" and the emotional impact they had on me) and decided to record them. The recording I made, however, was not up to my standards, and I wished to re-record the vocals at some point in time. I also wished to re-record the composition itself using instrumentation of superior audio quality than MIDI could provide. I would never find the time, and the album would be significant delayed as a result. In 2009, I began an attempt at remixing this song (as with Acronocia) using new and improved techniques and technology, but never completed it. As with Acronocia, I would speedily re-master the original recording to this track, and declare the album complete subsequently.

The odd title, "CARAMEL," is first and foremost a tongue-in-cheek tribute to Gackts Vanilla, which I mentioned was a major influence on this track. In addition to this, an earlier form of the lyrics to the song would included the line "Thatd be sweet like . . . Caramel." This would eventually be removed for reasons I dont quite remember.
