A wonderful 1960s interpretation of the 1930s hit by both Ethel Waters and Leo Reisman performed here by the Central PA blue-eyed soul group led by Dave Bupp & Buddy King. The song, released on Capitol 5812, lasted only one week at #133 on the Bubbling Under chart in February of 1967. By the way, if you share my philosophy, "never grow up, never grow old," come on over to my blog, Shady Dell Music & Memories at www.shadydell.blogspot.com. See you there!

  • The Mag Men used to play at my High School dance parties in the 60's. Bishop McDevitt in Harrisburg. Great memories. My friends and I modelled our band after their lineup and also played gigs at the school. We called ourselves "The Motivations". We had fun playing pool parties, college frat parties, etc. but we were never as good as these guys. They were our heroes.

  • @Madman0813 Great memories, madman! Thank you for sharing them. I wish I would have taken 83 North and caught a performance by The Motivations. I'm sure you guys were crowd pleasers.

  • Can you tell me what's on the flip side? i had a single way back in the late 60s that I could swear was The Magnificent Men doing "Function at the Junction" but I can't find this record in any internet searches (except on a grainy pic of the "live" album cover i see the song listed) thanks for any help!

  • @studiocityslicker The B side of "Stormy Weather" is "Much Much More of Your Love." It's another of my uploads if you want to hear it. I never saw "Function at the Junction" on a Magnificent Men single, only on the Live album that you mentioned. Shorty Long had a hit single with "Function." Thanks for your comment, my friend!

  • I love Shade.

  • @sjsawyer It seems like more people are discovering the Mag Men via the Sly Stallone route than by any other means. So be it! Thanks for your comment!

  • @themagmen Dave, I hope you got paid for it.

  • When I worked in Harrisburg in the 1980 's and 1990 's , I watched a group perform at a motel off 83 . I believe the group was called Pentagon , and a lobbyist I knew told me these were what was left of the Magnificent Men , whom I remembered from the Jerry Blavat Show on a UHF channel in Philadelphia in the 1970 's .. Was this true about Pentagon ?
