The next in a weekly series of 10 minute topics teaching about various topics within Judaism. This week's topic is: Original Sin.

The term original sin is unknown in the Tanach and is antithetical to the core principles of the Torah and the prophets. The Tanach states that humanity was created in the image of Hashem.

The Torah, over and over again, dismisses the notion that man has lost his divinely endowed capacity to use his free will to choose good over evil. This notion is not hidden or ambiguous, it is proclaimed in nearly every teaching that Moshe (Moses) directs to the Children of Israel.

  • Fantastic vid

  • @Hesediah - Thank you.

  • I would more precisely say that sin is not something that is passed on, but it means 'missing the mark', imperfection(?), which is equivalent an an iheritance lost. Adam lost his inheritance of everlasting life from G-d and henseforth did not have it to pass on, therefore we die.

  • Yes, that is a pretty good assessment.

  • xtianity scared the hell out of me.

  • It has done that to a lot of us.

  • This is an elegant and articulate presentation. It is a worthy presentation.

Yet, a nuance here, a parsing of words here & there, and the entire avoidance of the consequences of eating first the only non-kosher food does not fill in the gaps of each passing the buck and each by G-D getting a unique punishment. Then the shame of nakedness is a key issue.

Lastly, if you have to explain what you are not, you've lost before you've started.

  • You are welcome.

  • Thank you, very interesting
