  • Hi, I have purchase a 70s Mercedes 280S, and before being put away in storage (in 1975) the engine head was removed leaving the block surface to rust. I have removed all surface rust however the rust has left a scare being 2-3mm pits at deepest. I would like to have a second opinion or a 'where to star' if anyone has any ideas. I dont want to just toss the engine rather resurface it in the least expensive manor. any ideas, suggestions, respond. Thanks

  • sins there is so very little surface contact sins the cutter spins so fast it dosent create alot ofheat there realy isent any need for coolant

  • is cutting fluid necessary in this type of machine work? i'd imagine the deck and cutting blade to get pretty hot. i dont know much about machine work so i'm just curious

  • Does it make a difference if you skim only one side of the engine? what i mean is that this side will of the engine will have "less displacement" will this effect engine balance or is it negligible? Fantastic insight into the real world of engine repair,

not the change out merchants of today, thank you for sharing your knowledge

  • dude i used to rebuild honda engines before and i never seen a boxter engine in my life but others i have like V8 305, 350, 400 etc and some shitty honda 1.5L engines but mostly im into small engines like 2 strokes and 4 strokes i also rebuild them and sell and i seen slant engines VW, and some others

  • If you don't even know basic cylinder arrangement configurations, why would you be watching these videos?

  • yea now i remember that was just half of the block

  • Or 6 cylinder, or 8 cylinder, etc.

  • horizontally oppose 4 cylinder engine. unlike standard 4 cylinder engines which the pistons go up and down 2 set of bores. the boxer is devided into two sections that house two pistons per section. the section halves are bolted together around the crank.

  • what a boxer
