The Big Crime- September 9, 1954-
This excellent episode is a prime example of why this was such a great show. Jack Webb didnt shy away from what he felt were important issues, and the subject of this episode was pretty powerful stuff in 1954. Some might call the ending a bit melodramatic, but that closing scene stuck with me for a little while.

@onemooners Webb's idea about portraying how the job of a real cop was performed opened up all these taboo subjects. Check out "The Big Children" another Dragnet episode I posted that showed real family problems in the 50's. Dragnet showed not every home in Eisenhower's America was like the Cleavers or the Reeds.
