I would compare the Phantom to an obsessive controlling spouse with a horrible temper. She made the right choice.

Me encanta este tema.. es el mejor de la pelicula!!!

@pettie090 Raoul's feelings eventually fade and he becomes a drunkard and gambler. I love the phantom not cuz he's played by Gerard, but because his character is so interesting. He's mysterious, and people will never be able to understand if he was evil, good intentioned, insane, obsessed, or in love. It's intriguing.

@Iced1992 He never truely lost Christine. As shown in Love Never Dies, she'd loved him all along. I 100% agree with you that he's not as evil as people believe him to be. He just wanted the only person that understood him, to love him.

I'm like, obsessed with this movie.

you left out the best part! D=

@Iced1992 p.s. That would be why she has the Phantom's child in Andrew Lloyd Webber's sequel he made for this play. "Love Never Dies". Look it up on Wiki.

I feel so sorry for the phantom. He can't help being deformed. And he's way more Christine's type. I think he should have got the girl. :(

@pettie090 He murdered a complete asshole. It's inane to defend him for doing that, but please note that he has no moral compass, he was abused and neglected as a child, and with losing Christine he lost all meaning his life had ever since he went into hiding.
Considering all that, that he didn't kill Raoul and left Christine to make that choice shows he was not as "evil" as you seem to want to portray him to be.
