ICONE Conferenza sulle Icone Bizantine della Chiesa Ortodossa che a Messina ha una lunga tradizione. Messina é stata capitale dell'Impero d'Oriente insieme a Costantinopoli ,la scuola di traduttori dal greco e dal latino porta il nome di Costantino Lascaris della famigla reale di Costantinopoli che dopo l' occupazione militare turca si trasferì in Sicilia, prima a Milano poi a Messina definitivamente. Le icone di Messina sono state "trafugate" dalla Chiesa che gestiva queste opere nel dopo terremoto, nel 1916 ,durante la prima guerra mondiale, furono consegnate ad una nave da guerra del regno di Grecia che la inviò appositamente a Messina per prendere in consegna le icone. Oggi sono esposte nel museo di arte Bizantina di Atene, si sta cercando di farle tornare a Messina anche solo per una mostra.
