Removal Of CPR Line In The Ottawa Valley

As this train moves forward there is a machine on the end that is picking up the rails that were the CP Engines just drove accross and sliding them into the grey rail cars. The squealing you here is the rails being slid across the slots on the rail cars. This is in Cobden Ontario. Also Wastch Pt. 2 by me.

Rail America, an American compnay, had a 20 year contract with OVR (Ottawa Valley Rail Link) from 1996 to 2015 to continue the operations and maintainance of the 400 plus kms of Ottawa Valley Short Line rail line from Smith Falls, ON to Sudbury, ON. Unfortunatly due to the economic down fall, rail trafic and bussness declined from several trains a day to several trains a week eventually to one freight train a week. December 18, 2009 RailAmerica announced its early termination of the contract with OVR resulting in the rail line abandonment and being ripped up. April 25, 2010 was the last regulaTrains stopped running through the Ottawa Valley and Renfrew County. (Pembroke, Cobden, Renfrew ON). On August 3, 2011 the desicion was made to reclaim the rails, ties, spikes etc. A&k from Kansas, USA got the job contract and sub-contracted CANO Contracting Limited from Brandon,Manitoba, Canada. This set of engines and crew are moving carts and ripping up the rails in Cobden, ON Canada. It's sad to see them go. Please feel free to comment to add on or corect me if I am wrong. :)
