DISCONTINUED D:

This gel can be purchased at most drugstores or walmarts, targets etc. It is cheap and curly girl method approved! And it has great hold without stickiness. :)

  • Thank you so much:)...if it's ok I have a couple of questions:) I am just new to this whole CG method and still looking for the products that work for me...So my first question is what

does hair build up feel like? and I notice that when my hair is WET I have curly strands clumped together...which looks like normal curls and then individual hairs will be frizzy out away from the clumps some call it spider web frizz...Do you know what I can do about that?....Thanks again:D

  • @Sherry4477 you don't need to post your question on two videos. i will see it! :) also you can private message me if you want.

if there's build up on your hair it will probably feel gunky and start to look weighed down. if you clarify and the problem is solved, you had buildup. if you are getting frizz when your hair is wet, your hair needs more moisture. the hair reaches outwards to find moisture when its dry and that causes frizz. use a moisturizing conditioner and leave in conditioner :)

  • I checked the ingredients of this gel and it is cone free and all but it has Polyquaternium-4 (it is a polymer and other types are Polyquaternium-7 and Polyquaternium-11)...Anyway some say those are even worse than cones they are so much harder to remove even with sulphate shampoos and others say that they are not all the same...some are easy to remove like that polyquat - 4 while others are som much harder to remove...same does for copolymers...Do you know anything about that?????? plz help

  • @Sherry4477 First off, let me say that polyquats are not my area of expertise. Polyquats are much more variable than silicones, in that some are easy to remove and some are not. My policy is to try a product, and if I notice build up to stop using it. I have been doing a lot of research to try and answer your question--after reading a lot I've come to the conclusion that all polyquats can be removed by a gentle cleanser such as coco betaine, and do not require sulfates cleaners.

  • I tried searching for this at 2 different places today and couldn't find it, but they had every other HE gels.. So I got Set Me Up. But I've heard better things about Body Envy. Is it discontinued? Or discontinuing? There wasn't even an empty spot for it :-/

  • @blinkrocker2007 It's not discontinued... just really hard to find. I know Harris Teeter carries it. The Set Me Up is a good gel too, though. :)

  • :D...I'll try looking for a conditioner that is more moisturizing than the one I 'm currently using...thanks you so much:D

  • I have been using the set me up gel for about 5 years now. I'm quite satisfied with it

Weird thing I noticed is that the second half of the bottle makes nicer hair than the first. When I tell this to anybody they say I'm crazy but I have a lot of experience with it and its true!!

Cons: 1) bottle is too small (I get 3-4 at a time). 2) it is difficult to wash off of your hands after you apply. but if you apply to very wet hair and dry after its not so bad for some reason

  • @WonderfullyDani You know when your gel doesn't have enough hold if you're still getting frizz and the curls go limp towards the end of the day. You have too much hold if there's a crunch that you can't scrunch out! :)

  • I recently switched to totally twisted (I used it once before but they stopped selling it at my local drug store. grrrr) The totally twisted had more hold than the other, because everyone is saying that my hair looks curlier, but I still think it doesn't have enough hold. How do you know when your gel doesn't have enough hold? I used the set me up (the blue kind) and I felt like it had TOO much hold because it left my hair super crunchy. but I'm going to re try it in case I just used too much.
