Cabinet makers produce and repair wooden fixtures and furniture. They work from designs and specifications to measure, cut, join and carve wood and other timber materials with a wide variety of tools and equipment. Cabinet makers may produce mass market furniture and fixtures, create commissioned one-off pieces, or restore antiques.
As a cabinetmaker you will work in large factories or small workshops. You will need to be physically healthy for manual activities and have tolerances to dust and fumes. You will also need to have some creativity and excellent hand-eye coordination.
