  • A very easy way to drain the excess water from the cucumbers is after they are sliced, put them in a strainer and let the water drain right from the strainer. I let mine drain for about an hour, covered with a dish towel.

This is the exact way I make them less the oil and I also use Miracle Whip instead of sour cream. I just recently made them using Spin Blend instead of Miracle Whip and they were YUMMY! SB has just a little more zing than MW.

  • Bollocks!

  • i did this and used Hidden Valley Ranch dressing instead of the sour cream. Delish!

  • gross preparation..yuck!

  • it dosn't look like a salad, yes, not appetizing at all.

  • I'm sure it tastes good, but this is the least appetizing recipe video on youtube.

  • it's also very good with about 4-5 thinly sliced cooked red potatoes peel free, and red cherry tomatoes or a large tomatoe sliced thin..place these in..when the salad goes in the fridge the second go around. We eat this style in germany and/or Switzerland as a side dish with fresh bread all of the time. Yummy! if you do use my version please use red wine vinegar instead..and a garlic clov..

  • Thanks so much for posting this. I haven't had these since my grandmother died but I absolutely loved it. She never passed any of her recipes on and never wrote them down, but yours at the very least looks exactly like hers did. I'll definitely be trying this :)

    Thanks :D

  • i love this recipe! its the closest ive seen to my boyfriends mothers recipe, and she was born in Germany. it just tastes like Summer to me. thanks for posting it!
