My good Pal Michael from the www.SatellitePlus.US posted some pictures of a cardboard feed-horn he made. His claim was it would pull in an extra few signal points, thus making the difference between watchable TV and non-watchable TV with weak signal feeds.

I had cause to try it today,

First I took a small strap of cardboard and wrapped it round the existing feed-horn on my LNB I simply taped it into position.

Next while at the LNB I measured the angle my horn would have to be to be able to collect all signal reflected into the LNB, making sure not to make this angle too big in fear of pulling in background noise (This is what this feed horn does, it pulls in all signal from dish but blocks background noise from the ground or whatever is behind the dish)

I quickly made a funnel making sure the angle was correct, I then cut off the ends to get my exact size and then taped it to my cardboard LNB band I had already made.

When the feed-horn was complete I lined it with aluminium paper, making sure to keep it as flat as possible. I taped everything down and was set to try it out.

I went to some weak signals on 30w and took a short video, signal quality was mainly below 60% : (

I added the feed-horn and I now get a much more stable signal quality mainly above 60% : )

A few signal points can make a big difference.

Thanks again for the motivation to make this Michael, I did tinker with feed horns briefly over the years but this is the first hand made one I have ever tried!

Thanls!
