@faroutadventures To answer your question about the best time to visit, we have regular farm tours during daylight hours all through harvest. It's best to come before September 15th to make sure you see harvest in action. Please call the office at 888-972-3616 between 8am - 5pm (PST) Monday thru Friday to arrange a tour. @faroutadventures Thanks for your comment, and sorry it took us so long to get back to you. We've started harvest here on the farm and it's been crazy, but the good news is that we have great video from harvest coming soon.
To answer your first question- The depth of the hops while drying (roughly 1 to 3 feet) means it would take ages to dry properly. The higher and constant temperatures allow us to dry them in about 4 to 12 hours per kiln, therefore ensuring optimum quality.

Why do you use that much heat to dry the hops? Couldn't you just blow in the outside air of 95*-100*F to dry the hops.? I just bought some hops from you guys. Can't wait ot get them for my next batch of beer. I live in Tacoma, and found some wild growing hops in Orting. I picked a few. I find hops to be very interesting iin how fast they grow and their main use in beer production. I'd like to come over and check out your operation . When is the best time to visit?
