@pnbsiva what about the capnography? Easy, non-invasive, quick and cheap.

wonderfull video, very usefull. Do you the US everytime ? or what are your indications ?
I use it before the intubation for pediatric patients in order to calibrate the endotracheal tube, and in some patient after radiotherapy or with neoplasm

Thank you for your comment. Although a capnography is useful, the sensitivity and specificity are not high. That is, we cannot detect the esophageal intubation with the capnography.

Why use it? i would rather have a CXR so that I can confirm placement and also get a film of the lungs. Good Idea but to much work.

Thank you for your comment. You do not understand what I mean. We can repidly confrm whether we have correctly placed a tracheal tube into the trachea whenever we are not confident it. The ultrasound image is useful under emergent situations.

No I don't. I use ultrasound when I am not sure correct endotracheal tube placement. You know, there is no physical examinations to confirm endotracheal tube placement except for direct vsion using a fiberscope. I think of ultrasound as a noninvasive rapid examination with high sensitivity and hight specificity to confim the endotracheal intubation placement.
