  • Very nice. How long did that take to render?

I myself am using 3ds Max. An equally good program from the same company but for different applications of course. Maya definitely beats out 3ds for animations. 3ds is more for game dev purposes from what I've seen.

Anywho, excellent reflections and texturing. Grade A work.

  • Thanks for the props Musicsmycalling. I was using my seriously slow laptop back then so it took several hours to render the couple of thousand frames in Mentalray. Having a decent graphics card, processor and a good amount of RAM makes all the difference.

  • Nicely rendered and realistic, shame about quality in video...

  • heyy, i was just wonderin what the difference is when rendering with maya software vs. Mental ray?

  • Unsupported video format

  • @hadron89 Yes, I was rendering in Mentalray using CPU and RAM only, but back then I only had 1.3 Ghz Pentium and 2 GB RAM. You can still achieve nice rendering, but you'll have to wait days for it to complete!

  • @momfalos Isn't it rendered CPU only? If its done before 2009 it is CPU only I believe. The RAM part is true though.

  • @momfalos graphic card dosent make a difference u need number crunching, which a processor does n yeah ram matters.Maybe nvidia's cuda enabled graphic card might help.

  • not exactly an animation, but still good texturing

  • theres no animation xD

  • I've considered making my own movie exactly like FF7 the movie. Anyone know what software and tools are the best to use?

  • thats really cool.

i want to see one that hasnt been upscaled
