@KiLanRay depends what hemisphere you are in also
-
@ekaj8 : if u r in northern heisphere, point the hour hand towards the sun, bisect the area between hour hand and figure 12, direction of North will be away from the sun.... if u r in southern hemisphere, point the figure 12 towards the sun and bisect, North will be closer to the direction in which the sun is......

"To find north, take the hour hand and point it north" lolwat?
-
what if it is 12 0 clock?????????
-
at 30 secs he says " to find north you take the hour hand and point it towards north???" Good one. If I knew were north is so that i can point my hour hand towards it, then why do i need to use this method when I already know where north is???

This does work, but it is a rough estimate. Bear in mind that this works based on a 12 hour day so as the sun progresses across the sky from east to west, it is at it's southernmost point at mid day. Longer days in the summer and shorter days in the winter will throw this off by a bit. You may have to draw a circle with 14 hours instead of 12 for example to compensate. In a survival situation, even if it's off, it will keep from going in circles which is the main thing.
