The Bread and Puppets Theater troupe visited Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina, USA, on the evening of October 7, 2009. They performed Cathedral Dances, pieces that communicated the grief of mothers mourning for their children, the devastation caused by deforestation, the problem of urban angst, and the absurdities of organized religion. And - everyone seemed to have a great time!

  • In fact, most of the people were amateurs. That's sort of the point - to get away from processed "professionalism" and to make theater direct & accessible.

  • This guerilla theater troupe came to Boone, NC, yesterday. They spent a few hours rehearsing with students and members of the community, and then presented this show. I've only included the "fun" parts here. A very moving piece about Gaza was just impossible to capture because the lighting was so low.
