I find this playing to be rather emotionless. It was good but it could have been more piano in some spots and the dynamics in general could be better. Everything else was wonderful

My God, I finally heard high school brass players playing in just intonation. I can now die happy.
Way to go, folks. This was outstanding.

My soul looks back in wonder. WHen I was in high school, in 1963, we played "Come, soothing death" every afternoon to start band practice "for your intonation." You guys play it great-- The second half is hair-raising- incredibly tuned-in to each other, and to the majesty of this chorale.... Exactly what the teen-aged soul needs to measure its own capacity for melancholy against. You play this, you know you're capable of greatness.... No wonder we all loved Mr Townsend!

Please have a look at the video response I posted. Many CHS students were in this years All-Region, held at CHS. I also have other vids of of this year's All-Region rehearsal, of both the String and Symphony groups, on my channel.

We're amazaing...one of the judges wrote on the comment sheet..."I had a religious experience listening to you guys play this piece"...CHS ORCH KICKS ASS!!!
rflanagan4....I had the privilege to play under Leopold Stokowski while in college (The Philadelphia Musical Academy!) He arranged this piece for The Philadelphia Orchestra. The one we did was his transcription of Bach's Prelude and Fugue in D minor, also for The Phila. Orchestra. He was so moved that young people could play with such feeling,it brought tears to his eyes while conducting us. That was in 1973. What a thrill!
Which one are you in your group?
Best wishes in your future.

EXCELLENT!!!!! Reminds me of my high school orchestra, NorthEast HS, in Philadelphia, PA in the mid to late 1960's. Great intonation and technique! It warms my heart that there are still young people willing to learn the classics. About 95% of our members, myself included, studied with Philadelphia Orchestra members. Do your students study with professional orchestra members? It sounds it!! Keep up the great work.
