Aria

Qui laugel da pianta in pianta,
lieto vola, dolce canta
cor che langue a lusingar.
Ma si fa cagion di duolo
sol per me che afflitto e solo,
pace, oh Dio! non so trovar.

...Haendel wrote the work first in 1708 at Naples during his Italian journey. Tha autograph has an indistinct title which might be read either "Cantata" or "Serenata"; it may be conjectured that he subsequently altered its original designation into "Serenata". It's a Cantata or Serenata a tre, since only three persons - Aci(Soprano),Galatea(Alto) and Polifemo(Basso) - are employed in it. The autograph in Buckingham Palace wants the last leaf, which must have contained tha date. This leaf was transformed to the conducting score which haendel used at perfomances after 1732,and which still exists in England, though its possessor cannot now be traced...

  • Thanks, just what I needed - after hours of reading job ads, brrr...

I'm just starting to realize nowadays how much I like the sound of baroque flute - it lacks that hard metallic colour of modern instruments that drives me mad after some time.

And of course I adore Philippe's voice, but that much you must know already :)

  • Oh yes..it's magic intrument,very noble and sincere..and I wish a productive job search :)
