It's raining again in the East Coast so here goes the HobbyKing 3-Channel Nataku mod and maiden I completed way back in May 2010. This is a small plane that requires a lot of care but is fun putting together.

Other pilots have added ailerons, but for my flying skill level rudder/elevator control surfaces are adequate. Moded the Lipo battery for safer balanced charging and used the the more efficient GWS 4503 with a rubber adapter. No landing strip so I do not use the landing gear hence added nose weight to get the CG just right (a tad nose heavy).

After some rough landings (on a very windy day and I'm sticking to that) I stuck extreme tape to the wing mounts to minimize foam tearing and fashioned "pull tabs" to assist pulling out the wires for the battery. This is a fun model to fly on a calm day and gets about ten minutes of flight on the 138 Mah 2S lipo.

Not sure if this can be called a first choice 3 channel "beginner" plane at the same level as the Easy Star or Slow Stick. If you've flown a PZ Micro Sukhoi or P-51, you know what I am taking about - they are in a class of their own.

  • What do you use for the torque tube? I am planning on buying this Nataku model since I do not have much room to fly nearby and also building/experimenting with some ideas for trainers that are crash resistant and still have ailerons and some power.

  • @Antifraud Hi! I'm afraid I do not know what you mean by a torque tube ... sorry. The torque tubes I know are used for electric heli tail rotors. This stock model is 3 channel - no ailerons. Some have moded with ailerons but you can buy micro airplanes (Parkzone has the micro-models, Nine Eagles also have micros ) that do have ailerons. Regards!

  • Hey, do you think you could tell me the name of the song that is playing? thanks :)

  • @reganhames123 The song was created by Magix, the video editing software I use - the theme is under "chilling out" collection.

  • hey buddy, how does the prop go on?.

  • @condatore1 Prop is friction fit. (See 1:17). Mode uses the GWS 4503 on the GWS Spn001 spinners (1 mm hole). ~$2.5 plus S&H.
