Arthur Lee and Love were pure magic. These guys do a pretty good replica, but I'm sure they would tell you that nobody could do this as well as Arthur himself could do it. Arthur was irreplaceable.
Completely disagree. it's a good cover but not perfect, certainly not close to the original. The horns are so mediocre. They soar in Arthur Lee's version. Missing string section is glaring. This just sounds weak and watered down instrumentally. I guess if you're a big fan of Calexico's sound you'd think this is better... but come on Love vs. Calexico? Let's get real. ... and I like Calexico, I'm just sayin...
This is a great version. Calexico can't match Lee's vocals, for sure, but they they pull it off pretty good, otherwise. It's a great song that deserves to be played live. And Arthur Lee won't be doing that anymore.
