According to you Canadians didnt exist till 1876. Same way we cant claim the French and Indian war was our first.

3/4 of the naval engagemts during the war were US victories, the British had 3 failed landings, most important being New Orleans. Had it been a defeat, that wouldve sealed the war of 1812 was a US defeat, but we all know it wasnt. What counts is who holds the ground after the day is over.

  • @USMarineRifleman0311 A British victory yes but many Canadians fought there. Also, isn't the successful defense from an aggresor considered a victory? If invaders attacked a fort and the defenders sent them running with their tail between their legs, would you not call that a victory for the defenders? So what if the US had good treaty terms? Doesn't change the fact that they lost the war themselves.

  • @MajBlood

Queenston Heights was a British victory, like Yorktown was Rochambeau's

I'll give credit where its due, UK defend its colony, but was unable to punish the agressor

  • @USMarineRifleman0311 ? Canada became its own country in 1867, long before WWI. Many Canadian colonial troops fought in the war, including the decisive battle of Queenston Heights where we pushed the Yanks back of the Great Lakes. Finally, an aggressor is pushed back, we traditionally declare the defenders the victor. Your logic is extremely flawed. You have to stop being so patriotic and face facts.

  • @MajBlood

No we dont teach british history, seeing as how canada didnt exist till WW1 as its own nation.

There is no mention of canadian troops actually fighting in this war. Provincials are still under British desig.

Seeing as how we fought off those that tried invading our country, we do see this war as a victory. Especially considering how we got away with invading another country and got our own terms during the treaty 3 yrs later. Thats a US victory.

  • @USMarineRifleman0311 No shit. You withdrew South because you were outmaneuvered and beat fair and square. Tell me, do they still teach schoolchildren in the US that the United States won the War of 1812?

  • @MajBlood

the US army was still in canada when washington was being burned. We didnt have troops defending our own country, hence we withdrew southwards because we couldnt fight a 2 front war at the time.

  • @USMarineRifleman0311 Beat the British off? No you tried to invade Canada and we beat you off and torched your white house. Fail in history much? You'd make it sound like we were the aggresors in that war.

  • @MajBlood

how bout those who were with Nelson at Trafalgar?

or those that were impressed into service of the royal navy?

We torched canada and beat the british off, we'll be making the terms of what we can and cant do.

  • It is ironic. Those first three notes.....SPACE...THE FINAL FRONTIER. And James t mothereffing kirk is based on horatio, the ultimate alpha male of the future, seafaring captain of space.
