The Friday, December 19, 2008, ice storm, which cut a wide swath across the Midweste United States, also touched Plymouth, Illinois. The storm snapped some trees, as shown in this video, and left an icy blanket over trees. The stark beauty of the ice gives the video nearly a "black and white" appearance in many places. Plymouth was fortunate, with only minor reports of service disruptions, which also included some nearby communities. This video is typical of scenes in this western Illinois area.
rudykemp, this is a nice video. 5 stars and a favorite.
I was in Macomb when this storm happened. The Amtrak came a few hours late into Macomb on the morning of December 19 because of that ice storm. We got to Chicago Union Station 3 hours late because of a combination of the original delay plus a long delay in Galesburg.
Me and my fellow Amtrak passengers weren't thrilled about it, but at least we got to our destinations safely.

Hi Rudy,
Going on 33 hours at our house without power. Luckily, we have a generator to keep our furnace going. I feel bad for those who are still without power and have no generator...
