2011-02-05
The 47th Munich Security Conference continues for already the second day. About 350 delegates, 46 state leaders, foreign and defense ministers are participating in the forum.
Georgia's President Mikheil Saakashvili will deliver a speech as part of the conference on February 6. Saakashvili met with Angela Merkel, German Chancellor this afternoon. The face-to-face meeting lasted for about half an hour.
Discussions were held about the Georgian-Russian standoff and tense relations, current situation across Georgia's invaded territories and Georgia's relations with the European Union.
A traditional dinner was held for world leaders last evening. On the sidelines of the dinner, Georgia's President met with Karl-Theodor Freiherr zu Guttenberg, German Federal Minister of Defense.
Over the past decades, the Munich Security Conference has become the major security policy conference worldwide. Each year it brings together senior figures from around the world to engage in an intensive debate on current and future security challenges.
