@dinfg6 That was never an FCC mandate. Ratings services combined them all in a single metro (market designation), and broadcasting consultants decreed station IDs should give a shout out to each area so viewers (or listeners, for radio) would "feel included" and be loyal to the station.

@carzingan2 Kay-Gee-Oh.
Never heard "Kay-Go", although both crosstown rivals used verbal shorthand (in-house for years before it ever crept into on air promotion).
One was KPIX; obviously "Kay-Pix".
The other, KRON, had at one time been owned by the San Francisco Chronicle, long known as "The Chron". Eventually, the single syllable was applied to the station.

@UIWWildthing Yeah, he had a cup of coffee here in the bay area back in the 80's. His style didn't go over well as he only lasted a year.

What does that mean? "Interesting"? People die. It's very sad, but it is a natural course of human existence. Jensen succumbed to cancer, Wilson to blocked arteries. Please try to avoid conspiracy theories. These were great men who deserve better.
